In this clip from Season 10, Episode 3, Wildling Ygritte holds back for exactly one minute and five seconds before shooting her lover, Jon Snow. Witty Rogue Names
To be fair, she has a reason to – he’s deceived her, lied to her and shown that he’d rather go back to the Night’s Watch than stay with her and live happily ever after (is that possible in Game of Thrones?).
Ygritte is obviously acting out her anger in a way that many of us wish we could against our ex-lovers (not saying you should, but wish we could).
Not only that, this lady is a WARRIOR and a beautiful entity. Although her character was killed off, there’s plenty of strong women left (Daenerys Targaryen is officially the Mother of Bad-ass Women) and hopefully
we’ll see more of her and the rest of the GOT lady characters showing the men that strong women are the best women.

The Growth of Black Appropriation in Celebrity Culture
Over these past few weeks through so-called celebrity “feuds”, t
he problem of black appropriation in celebrity culture is coming more and more to our attention.
Black appropriation occurs when people from a privileged class (generally white),
begin to adopt black culture in a way that exploits and stylises it, claiming it as their own without recognising the place that it originated from.
While white artists can use stereotypical black style and language to create a “cool” vibe,
when it comes to black artists it can often be seen as inappropriate, suggesting the extent of how whitewashed mainstream media is
. This has been an on-going problem that has grown more common as the years go on with the rise in popularity of Hip-Hop and Urban genres, and has become more relevant
in recent discussions made by certain black celebrities including Nicki Minaj, Admandla Stenberg and Azealia Banks.

Seventeen-year-old Kardashian sister, Kylie Jenner,
posted a picture of herself online with cornrows, a hairstyle originally worn by black men and women in order to maintain the condition of their hair
. Admandla Stenberg, the young Hunger Games actor,
commented on the photo with a valid statement about how
Kylie always embraces black culture as a way to make herself seem “edgy
” but does little in raising awareness to other aspects such as racism.

Azealia Banks did much the same to white Australian rapper,
Iggy Azalea whose whole career, and therefore lifestyle, is
based off of and created by black musicians who introduced the hip-hop and R&B genre
. The artist failed to make any comment when the tragic events
of Ferguson arose, and was rightly called out for her use of cultural appropriation.
Many white celebrities have become successful through adopting their cultural appropriation,
from Eminem to Katy Perry, to Justin Bieber and Miley Cyrus and,
(perhaps quite ironically due to her recent Twitter debate with Nicki Minaj),
Taylor Swift. The list of mainstream white culture to benefit from using stereotypical black language
, fashion and styles, is endless and yet the list of those to actually
show their support or interest in black issues is very few. As this continues to happen it starts to show us how racism,
considered a problem that was apparently overcome decades ago,
is still happening today in the year 2015, and is very relevant in the industry of entertainment.
