College schedule of NCAA football week 11
The NCAA football week 11 comes with a full slate of matchups. Initially, the schedule attributes to 59 matchups. But that was before the COVID-19 hit, which led to many cancellations and postponements.
Anyway, the football action starts with three MAC games on a Tuesday night as Akron-Ohio battles with Miami (Ohio)-Buffalo. Then on Wednesday, there will be three more games. Some of these include Toledo vs. Western Michigan and Central Michigan against Northern Illinois. The only game playing on Thursday is Colorado State vs. Boise State. Friday games are three, including Iowa-Minnesota battling it out with East Carolina-Cincinnati.
On Saturday, NCAA football week 11 will continue with Wake Forest-North Carolina, Georgia-Missouri, Indiana-Michigan State, TCU-West Virginia, and Penn State-Nebraska. But the final round of Saturday matchups includes Utah-UCLA, and UNLV-San Jose State, and Oregon State-Washington.
Recap of these games
Buffalo over Miami (Ohio) 74-63 in MAC
It was Mballa that carried Miami after garnering 23 points and 19 rebounds career-tying. He is the second-seeded to beat seventh-seeded Miami with 74-63 during the Mid-American Conference Tournament quarterfinals.
Jonathan Williams was glad to have a career-high having 3-pointers and scoring 20 points. Ronaldo Segu also made a career high-best by having five 3-pointers while scoring 16 points with six assists for Buffalo (15-7). Then there were 13 points more added by Jayvon Graves.
Dalonte Brown gave 17 points for the RedHawks, which came to (12-11). And then Dae Dae Grant also put 12 more points.
Buffalo will battle it out against the winner of Thursday night’s later game on Friday’s semi-finals. That should be between Akron (No. 3 seed) and Bowling Green (No. 6 seed).
Toledo vs. Western Michigan
Through only one game, quarterback Eli Peters connected 20 32 passes for 214 yards and 4-touchdowns. Eli also ran for 67 yards past six carries, expanded by a 31-yard race in the third quarter.
These were good numbers, especially after Peters threw 828 yards and 6-touchdowns over five appearances during the last season. In addition, Peters’ production in the passing department included a talented group of receivers.
One of those was Bryce Mitchell, who led the way against Bowling Green. He got three catches for 58 yards and one score. Then there is Jerjuan Newton (three catches), Danzel McKinley-Lewis (three), and Devin Maddox (three).
Toledo has a good passing game, but it’s their offensive line and running game that will show their strength. As for Western Michigan, they must be proud of their defense after Akron scored 13 points. He managed 256 yards (4.0 per play), going 4-0f-14 on the third-down attempt. Toledo placed 275 rushing yards, beating Western Michigan in a 31-24 win.
We must say it was an unusual season, and that’s why it’s hard to overreact to a game that happened in one week. But, overall, both Toledo and Western Michigan played a splendid game in the opening week of MACtion.
Central Michigan against Northern Illinois.
Michigan beat Ohio 30-27 in their first game of the season, thanks to Daniel Richardson, who threw for 243 yards, 1-touchdown, and zero interceptions. They had good teamwork as Chippewas ran the ball effectively behind Kobe Lewis. Kobe ran 28 times for 112 yards and 2-touchdowns, averaging four yards per carrying.
Central Michigan’s defense was much better versus the run. They stopped Ohio to just 110 yards on the ground, allowing 345 yards in total. Michigan was the game-changer after holding Ohio to no points in the fourth quarter. And they were leading to finish the game with 30-27 at home. They will now hit the road in Northern Illinois.
Colorado State vs. Boise State.
Boise State had to play versus the BYU Cougars and against Zach Wilson last week. It was a tough test which they failed miserably. That’s how the Broncos experienced their first loss in the season. If they want to succeed in the year, then they have to turn things around quickly.
Now Boise needs to prepare for the next test, which is going to be against Colorado State. Since the Rams have only played two games this season, it’s hard to compare these teams’ performance. But we’ll have to see them face off in this NCAA football week 11 game. Boise State will be looking for redemption, while the Colorado State Ram needs to make a statement.
And the Rams can quickly achieve this if they pull off this upset. But, unfortunately, Boise State is likely to win this one as nearly 14 points favor it.
Boise State has to prove that their last game was an oddity, obviously a tale of two teams. If they don’t improve on the way they played against BYU, they will be heading to doom and outrightly may lose this game.
As Colorado State has only two record games this year, Boise State has three. So, they have a difference in one game experience. But, will it make any difference?
In Conclusion, the NCAA football week 11 had such interesting matchups. It was one of the remarkable weeks in college football.
