Agriculture, as everyone knows the most important sector for the Indian economy. The Government knows it also that is why they want to implement certain government’s policies that can help in boosting this crucial sector.

With its allied sectors, agriculture is undoubtedly the largest livelihood provider in India. It contributes a significant figure to the Gross Domestic Product. Sustainable agriculture, in terms of food security and environmentally sustainable technologies, for example, soil conservation, sustainable natural resource management and biodiversity protection are crucial for holistic rural development. As a result, Indian agriculture and allied activities have witnessed a green revolution, a white revolution, a yellow revolution and a blue revolution. Agricultural policy means a set of laws relating to domestic agriculture and imports of foreign farm products. Governments usually implement agricultural policies to achieve a specific outcome in the domestic agricultural product markets.

Aims of Government’s Policies

Agricultural policies use predefined or predetermined goals, objectives and pathways set by an individual or Government to achieve a specified result for the benefit of the individual(s), society and the economy of the nation at large.

Agricultural policies look into the primary, secondary and tertiary processes in agricultural production. Results can involve, for example, a guaranteed supply level, price stability, product quality, product selection, land use or employment.  The main aim is to reduce expenses and enhance farmers productivity, for example, avoiding expensive machines. The welfare of farmers has been one of the top priorities of the Government. It has implemented different schemes to revive the agriculture sector and improve farmers’ economic conditions. Other than this they can take help by using effective and efficient machines like tractors through which they can increase their income.   • Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY)

It is a fantastic scheme where the farmer has to pay the max. The premium of 2 per cent for Kharif, 1.5 per cent for Rabi food & oilseed crops, and 5 per cent for yearly commercial or horticultural crops and the remaining part of the actuarial is equally shared by the Central & State Government.  An essential purpose of this scheme is to give quick claims settlement reliefs.

  • Kisan Credit Card (KCC) scheme

Kisan Credit Card scheme is yet another essential Government scheme that provides farmers with timely access to short-term edit. The scheme introduced in 1998 to provide formal credit to the farmers. This scheme launched to ensure that the credit requirements for cultivators in the agriculture, fisheries or other related sectors are being met. Farmers are given short-term loans to purchase equipment. Many banks offer KCC, including SBI, HDFC, ICICI, Axis. 

  • Pashu Kisan Credit Card Scheme

For the growth and development of the animal husbandry sector in India, the Government has launched the ”Pashu Kisan Credit Card” for livestock farmers. Under this scheme, farmers given loans to buy cows, buffalo etc. To apply for a Pashu Kisan Credit Card, you will have to go to your nearest bank. 

  • Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchai Yojana (PMKSY) was launched on 1 July 2015 with the motto ”Har Khet Ko Paani” to provide end-to-end solutions in the irrigation supply chain viz. water sources, distribution network & farm level applications. PMKSY focuses on creating assured irrigation sources and protective irrigation by harnessing rainwater at the micro-level through ”Jal Sanchay Sanchay’ & ”Jal Sinchan”. 

  • Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana (PKVY)

Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana implemented to promote organic cultivation in India. Under the Paramparagat Krishi Vikas Yojana, an area of approx. Five lakh acres are targeted to be covered through 10,000 clusters of 50 acres each, from 2015-16 to 2017-18. 

All these policies have the only aim to support the farmers and revive the agriculture sector. On the other hand, farmers also have to be very smart by having proper agricultural planning. They should use the effective yet affordable, essential machinery in agriculture such as JOHN DEERE 5310.
