Another main objective of adding this feature was to balance out some of the loot that the players gain by exploring the world. The developers thought that users would like loots that look fantastic at first but were later found to be cursed.
The effects of Curse are Devastating

Most of the players think that the items with the curse of vanishing on them wear out faster. But this is a misconception. Instead, the items that have a Curse of vanishing on them are already almost broken.
The actual effect of the vanishing curse is that the enchantments disappear when the player dies. So if the player loots the cursed items and dies, then he cannot retrieve the item even after coming back in time to that same place of death. You can get the cursed items from certain places

However, you can find a librarian villager selling the enchantment books with cursed effects in some rare events. Apart from that, the cursed items can also be found in Desert and Jungle temples. And fishing can also produce some items or books having the Curse of Vanishing on them.
The Curse can be void by the Keep Inventory Game Rule

There are actually two curses
Till now, the developers have introduced two curses in the Minecraft game. Or in other words, we can say that there are two negative enchantments in the game. So you already know one of the curses, which is the Curse of Vanishing.
Now the other curse is the curse of binding. And believe it or not, the curse of binding is way more frustrating and devastating than the Vanishing Curse.
Unlike the Vanishing Curse, the Binding curse does not disappears the player’s inventory on its death. But it actually binds a piece of armor on the player. And the player can not remove this armor.
The only way to remove the armor is to die in the game. And no high-level player or hardcore player can afford to die.
The Compasses are also cursed
The curse has become more vicious with the newer versions of the game. Although the 1.16 version of the game does not contain any major changes, it still has some scary updates.
So picking the enchantments is still a dilemma in the newer versions. But the players have to be more cautious in these versions.
Now especially if you are the kind of player who cannot survive without a compass, be super cautious. It is so because in the newer versions of the Minecraft game, some of the compasses also contain the curse. The Carved Pumpkins can also contain curse

You can remove the Curse by combining items
Combining items is really a great feature and is actually considered one of the best features of the game’s crafting system. With the help of the combining feature, players can get rid of dangerous enchantments. And on the contrary, they can also modify their items by combining the two or more worn-out items.
But best of all, you can utilize this feature to get rid of the curse. Unfortunately, though, to do that, you need another identical cursed item. And it comes with some drawbacks as well.
The drawback is that it does not just remove the curse but the enchantment itself as well. So if you will use this tactic to get rid of the curse, you will lose all your enchantments as well. Plus, these enchantments cannot be taken back as they still carry the curse.
